link to purchase tickets on the official Facebook event page. Do not miss out on this! You will be BLESSED!… I mean, it’s in the title! Touchdowns & Tastings—Pecan Point Brewery—October 17 Now this sounds like an event many people will really enjoy. Want to know why? There will be locally crafted beer! But not only that, this event is for a great cause! In support of the Opportunities, Inc. Angel’s Guild, you are invited to an afternoon of football, craft beer and delicious food! On October 17, for one Sunday only, Pecan Point is opening its doors for this event. Ticket proceeds will support the mission of Opportunities, Inc. which is to empower children and adults with developmental disabilities to live full lives in our community. You must be 21 or older to attend and be sure to bring a big appetite! Sounds like some delicious fun! For more information, you can visit the official Facebook event page. Universal Vibe Music, Wellness & Arts Festival Front Street Texarkana—October 23 This event sounds like it is going to be a straight up “VIBE”… pun most definitely intended. Ha! I’m so punny! Seriously, though, this is exactly what Texarkana needs! The second annual Universal Vibe Festival promises to be “a safe and fun environment filled with only good vibes.” October 23, from 12:00 noon to 10:00 pm, you can come out to meet your local yogis, reiki masters and other holistic health practitioners. There will be bounce houses for the kids, along with

some painting and crafts! This is a great opportunity to support our local musicians, live painters AND (the best part in my humble opinion) watch some very talented people dance with fire! How cool is that? This festival will be like NOTHING else happening this month in Texarkana, and admission is completely FREE, so you’re out of excuses to miss it! Fouke Monster Halloween Campout Alex Smith Park—October 29-31 The legend of the Fouke Monster has been one that has haunted me since I was a child and I vaguely remember asking my mom to drive me out to Fouke so we could try to see it. This is the second annual camp-out, and it is hosted by Keith Crabtree and Nite Callers Bigfoot Radio’s Lauren Smith at Alex Smith Park in Doddridge, Arkansas. This event is completely family friendly! If you are interested in spooky Halloween fun, you’ll be able to sit around the campfire and hear stories about the Fouke Monster. But the fun doesn’t stop there! There will be trick or treating around the campsite for the kiddos and a fun costume contest! Campsites are free, but they are also first come, first served! Make sure you bring your own food and gear! There’s plenty of other information your family needs to know that you can find on the official Fouke Monster Halloween Campout Facebook event page! Happy camping!

Steven Curtis Chapman & Mac Powell—Trinity Baptist Church—October 12 Worship leaders have this incredible gift of writing beautiful love letters to Jesus and setting them to music. That being said, I love Steven Curtis Chapman’s gorgeous music, and this is an event I don’t want to miss. Neither should you! Trinity Baptist Church is hosting on Tuesday, October 12, at 7:00 pm. To find out more information about seeing this incredible musician live in concert, visit the official event Facebook page! Kari Jobe, The Blessing Tour—First Baptist Church—October 14 Oh gosh! If y’all could only see the tears I’ve cried again and again waiting in the McDonald’s drive-thru with my hands lifted and my words just barely squeezing through my cracked voice and out into the open… you would laugh at me. But for any of you who are familiar with Kari Jobe and her incredible music, I know you completely understand why I’m a pool of tears when her music starts to play. This girl and her husband are uber-talented, Christian worship juggernauts who have written some of the most powerful lyrics I’ve ever heard in my entire life. And they are bringing that music right here to Texarkana! Y’ALL! So exciting! The concert will take place on Thursday, October 14, at First Baptist Church on Moores Lane, and along with extra information, you can find the

‘Tis the season for all things PUMPKIN! From the notorious Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Lattes to the pumpkin spice cereal lurking in the grocery aisles, in October, inevitably, you just can’t escape the pumpkin spice and all its many various mutations. If you’re looking for me, I’ll be hiding on the couch in my apartment with a scarymovie on and pretending pumpkin spice doesn’t exist. I know my opinion is incredibly unpopular, but I choose to remember October as it was for me as a child—a unique mission and fabulous opportunity to get dressed up and set out to retrieve candy from strangers that would last me an entire month. I prefer this mission still takes precedence and remains the reason for the October season. Let’s go back to the way it was before pumpkin lovers invaded and created the distraction that stole Halloween from me. If you are a pumpkin spice lover, don’t worry, I won’t judge you for gobbling down a pumpkin spice scone in front of me. I won’t give you any side eye and I won’t be harboring any negative thoughts in my head. I will simply love and accept you for who you are. But I also sincerely hope if I see you with your Starbucks latte and you pass me smelling like pumpkin lotion from Bath and Body Works, it will at least be at one of these fabulous events.
