Falcons fit for EOSSAA

The SFX Falcons made a clean sweep of their eight regular season matches to take the regional junior title. Kunz credited a
high-level of offensive and defensive skills on the part of the players. “They’re all just really, really skillful,” he
said. “They all play outside (club/tourna- ment games) outside of the regular team schedule.”
The Grind This Time The Grind at Rockland District High School wrapped its 16 th year of student fundraising aid for the high school’s athletics program. The mid-October event resulted in about $5500 to go into a reserve fund for a “big ticket item” for the benefit of the school’s regular and extracurricular sports events. Andrew Lawford, teacher-sponsor for The Grind said the money is going towards future purchase of a new score clock, with “shot clock” program, which is used during basketball games for timing of special scoring opportunities.The school’s present score clock, which does not have that feature, dates from 1994. – Gregg Chamberlain Next spring it’s EOSSAA time. The St. Francis Xavier Catholic High Scho- ol Falcons reclaimed the Prescott-Russell High School Regional Championship title in junior boys’ soccer. Now they go into winter training mode to prepare for next spring and the Eastern Ontario Secondary School Athletics Association (EOSSAA) tournament. “We should have a really good shot at winning that,” said Coach Derek Kunz. “I’m looking forward to that.”
