Here are th ree passages which give to us th ree views of home life, all com­ mendable and all well worth consider­ ing,— a picture of a woman, a child and a babe. (1 ) A HALLOWED HOME, Luke 10: 38-42. We have here the first of th ree views of th e B ethany home, where M artha and Mary and Lazarus dwelt; and th ree significant views of Mary of Bethany, LESSON . How we wish we knew how it all came about. Why was th is His favorite home? How did these women and Lazarus come so close to th e h ea rt of Christ? Were th ere o th er homes th a t would gladly have had Him who had i)ot where to lay His head? Are th e re homes now where He is al­ ways welcome; homes of His disciples where He would feel His welcome; or are th ere many homes where He would be received as a guest b u t no t cordially welcomed; where His presence would be a kind of a chill upon the home life? We have heard of homes where a plate and a chair were always designated for Him. We are nam ing th is “A Hallowed Home,”— hallowed by His presence, this princely Lord and Master; rejected, it is tru e b u t nevertheless, God m anifest in th e flesh, (Jno. 1:14.) M artha and Mary are types of be­ lievers. They both loved Jesus, both were glad to have Him. M artha was anxious to prepare a good rep ast for Him. She was doing a needed work; it
