PRIMARY REPORT MARCUS ABNEY-HASTINGS PRIMARY CAMPUS PRINCIPAL
I would like to warmly welcome all students, staff, and families back to Term 3. I hope everyone had a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable break and is feeling refreshed for another exciting Term of learning, growth, and opportunity. As we begin the new Term, it is also a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the many achievements and successes from Term 2 and look ahead to the exciting experiences that await our students over the coming weeks. Throughout last term, our students embraced a range of exciting learning opportunities and extracurricular experiences. A major highlight was our Bands and Groups Musical Performance in Week 10, where students from Prep–4 showcased their talents, confidence, and commitment after weeks of preparation. It was a fantastic celebration of creativity and performance, and we are incredibly proud of all students involved. Thank you to our teachers, students, and families for their support in ensuring every student had the opportunity to shine. Throughout the Term, our students also represented the school exceptionally well in a variety of sporting opportunities. From the determination shown at Cross Country to the teamwork and resilience displayed by our Year 3/4 Hoop Time Basketball teams, Boys Netball team, and Girls AFL Football team, students demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship and school pride. Academically, our Year 4, 5 and 6 students completed VIA testing, providing valuable insight into student growth and achievement and helping our teachers plan targeted learning opportunities to best support every learner. We were also excited to see our Year 5 students participate in Transition Week on the Secondary Campus, an important opportunity for students to begin preparing for the next stage of their educational journey while building confidence and independence. One of the areas we are particularly proud of is the positive feedback received through our 2026 Attitudes to School Survey. The data reflects the strong culture we continue to build together as a school community, with particularly strong growth in students feeling safe at school, school connectedness, and respectful relationships and behaviour. Towards the end of last Term, I had the privilege of meeting with several Prep families to discuss their child's transition into our College. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, while also providing valuable suggestions about how we can continue to better support new families joining our school community. As a College, we deeply value parent/carer voice and believe your feedback plays a vital role in strengthening the educational experiences we provide.

As we look ahead to a busy and productive Term 3, there is already plenty to be excited about. Students in Years 1–4 will participate in our upcoming Swimming Program, providing valuable opportunities to build confidence, safety awareness, and essential life skills in the water. Our Year 5 and 6 students will be heading off to camp, which is always a highly anticipated experience. We are also looking forward to celebrating Science Week, including our Science Week Open Morning for families in Week 6, where families will have the opportunity to join us and experience the wonderful inquiry learning and scientific thinking taking place across our school. Thank you for your continued support as we begin another exciting Term together. I look forward to seeing our students continue to learn, grow, and achieve throughout Term 3, and I thank our families and staff for the ongoing partnership that makes our school community so special.
