Term 3 is an exciting and busy Term for our Prep students as we celebrate 100 Days of School and reflect on how much we have learned and grown. In Literacy, students will revise correct letter formation and continue applying their letter sound knowledge when reading and writing. Through our text based units, students will learn to discuss rich and engaging texts using full sentences and correct grammar. In Mathematics, students will learn addition and subtraction, compare and measure length, mass and capacity, and develop their understanding of sharing and grouping. Learning will continue to be explicit and engaging ensuring high levels of participation and academic progress. During Term 3, students will explore the topics of Living and Non-Living Things through engaging integrated literacy learning experiences. They will develop their understanding of the characteristics of living things and learn to classify objects based on their features. Students will participate in Dinosaur Day activities, using their knowledge to ask questions, share ideas and create informative work. In Mathematics, students will work on more complex addition and subtraction tasks, applying a range of strategies to solve problems. In Literacy, students will continue to build confidence as writers by creating longer and more detailed texts, using improved sentence structure, vocabulary and punctuation. In Term 3, Year 2 students will explore how things move through their Inquiry unit on forces, learning about pushes, pulls and gravity. This will be supported by an exciting and engaging “Toys in Motion” incursion, where students investigate how different toys move in action. In Mathematics, students will begin learning about multiplication and division through hands-on activities involving equal groups and sharing. In Literacy, students will enjoy a variety of engaging texts and begin to learn how to write persuasive pieces, sharing their opinions and giving reasons to support their ideas. This Term will build curiosity, confidence and key foundational skills. During Term 3, our Year 3 students will enjoy a range of engaging learning experiences across the curriculum. In Mathematics, they will build their understanding of multiplication, division, addition and subtraction, while exploring angles, time, and 3D objects. In Literacy, students will study Charlotte's Web to develop their reading comprehension, vocabulary, and writing skills. Our Inquiry unit will focus on the three levels of government in Australia, with students learning about the roles of local, state, and federal governments and participating in an exciting incursion to bring their learning to life. During Term 3, students will engage in a range of rich learning experiences across the curriculum. In Literacy, they will develop their writing through information reports and persuasive texts while studying the class novel Storm Boy to strengthen comprehension and explore the history and culture of Indigenous Australians. This learning will be enriched through an excursion to the museum. In Mathematics, students will build confidence with multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals through engaging problem- solving and real-world applications. Term 3 is going to be an exciting and engaging Term full of new learning opportunities. In Mathematics, students will develop their understanding of angles, fractions, decimals, measurement, and location through a range of hands-on and problem-solving activities. In Literacy and Inquiry, we will be exploring the fascinating topic of Space. Students will build their research skills by investigating planets, stars, and other features of our universe. They will use the information they gather to plan and write detailed information reports, focusing on presenting facts clearly and accurately while developing their writing and communication skills. In Term 3, the 5/6 VIA class will continue building their skills, confidence, and independence across the curriculum. In Literacy, students will explore Indigenous Dreamtime stories through the ABC series Dust Echoes, developing their comprehension by analysing symbolism, themes, and film techniques used to communicate meaning. In Numeracy, they will strengthen their understanding of fractions, angles, decimals, measurement, and location through engaging hands-on activities and problem-solving tasks. This Term, Year 6 students will continue developing their Literacy and Numeracy skills through engaging and challenging learning experiences. In Literacy, students will study the novel Once by Morris Gleitzman while strengthening their comprehension, note-taking, summarising and writing skills. They will also learn how to use relative clauses and subordinating conjunctions to enhance their writing and will plan and publish an information report. In Mathematics, students will build their understanding of fractions, decimals, angles, measurement and location and transformation. Through problem-solving activities, students will develop confidence, fluency and mathematical reasoning skills while applying their learning to real world situations.
