SECONDARY REPORT BONNIE LEE SECONDARY CAMPUS PRINCIPAL
To further strengthen student outcomes, we are continuing with our recent introduction of the CAT and SAC Redemption Program, held on Monday and Thursday afternoons. This initiative provides students with structured opportunities to revisit and improve their assessment tasks, ensuring that learning is ongoing and that students are supported to demonstrate their best possible achievement. Additionally, we are excited to launch a refreshed Learner Coach program in Term 3. Students will now rotate through a range of targeted sessions led by different teachers, focusing on key skill development areas such as study strategies, collaboration, communication and teamwork. These sessions are designed to be engaging, practical and, importantly, enjoyable—helping students build the capabilities they need to succeed both within and beyond the classroom. This Semester we welcome Mrs Conversano to our team as an Assistant Principal of Disability Inclusion. We also wish both Ms Pande and Ms Ylias the best of luck as they postpone their return to The Lakes this Semester, both extending their family leave. In light of these staffing changes we will see the continuation of additional Mathematics classes across Years 7-9 to address our goal of improving Numeracy across the College. Additionally, we will see further increases of shared classes this Term, creating opportunities for students to have access to different teaching and learning styles and to see communication, collaboration and organisation directly modelled to them through experiencing their teachers working together as teams to ensure learning outcomes remain our highest priority. As we move through this Term, we encourage our students to embrace the opportunities ahead with curiosity and determination.
As we begin Term 3, we find ourselves at a point of transition—moving out of the cold of winter and into the renewal and growth of spring. Much like the changing season, our Secondary Campus is entering a new phase of energy, opportunity and growth in learning, knowledge, confidence and character, while remaining grounded in strong values and high expectations for success. Term 3 brings with it a number of exciting learning opportunities and experiences for our students. New elective subjects and specialist class rotations are now underway, providing students with the chance to explore new interests, develop skills and challenge themselves in different ways. At the senior level, Unit 2 and Unit 4 studies have commenced, marking an important stage in our VCE journey, where commitment, organisation and persistence are key. Our co-curricular and wellbeing programs also continue to play an essential role in enriching student life. We look forward to the upcoming Wakakirri performances, where creativity, storytelling and teamwork will shine on stage. Our Year 7 students will celebrate their 100 Days of Learning, a wonderful milestone recognising the progress they have made as they settle into secondary school life. Meanwhile, our Year 9 students will participate in the City Experience, building independence and real-world connections beyond the classroom. We are also proud to support student wellbeing through programs such as the Year 8–10 Man Cave and Young Women’s Health and Wellbeing Days, which provide valuable opportunities for reflection, growth and open conversations around health, identity and relationships. Complementing this is our ongoing ICAN Mentoring Program, which continues to empower students through personalised support, goal setting and meaningful connections. A key focus this Term remains our unwavering commitment to high expectations for student success. We know that every student can achieve at high levels when supported with the right structures, opportunities and mindset.
We look forward to an inspiring and productive Term 3, filled with learning, connection and achievement.
