Xmas Home Tour welcomes visitors
in price adjustments Ω on select models
It’s beginning to look a bit like Christmas a few weeks early in some homes around VankleekHill, Hawkesbury and other com- munities. Six homeowners are throwing open the doors of their heritage homes, on Nov. 4, to welcome in all visitors to view and appreciate their decorative touch for the upcoming holiday season, as part of the annual Christ- mas Home Tour event. The self-guided tour destinations for this year’s Christmas Home Tour are Cottage Blue Home in Cornwall, the homes of Donna Doucette and Lise St- André, and the Vankleek Cottage in Vankleek Hill, Auld Kirktown in Lancaster, and Belle Designs in Hawkesbury. Event organizers note that an extra hour was added to the schedule for this year’s event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., because last year proved to a high-demand sell-out show. There are 300 new luncheon spaces provided thanks to the participa- tion of more community groups and new dining establishments in the Vankleek Hill village area. Four shuttle buses are available to take visitors around for the houses’ tour and other special event locations during the day. The tour fee is shared between the event organizer and six community groups which provide volunteers to assist with the event schedule. Four neighbourhood churches will host luncheons as part of this year’s tour sche- dule, along with a quilt show at Knox Pres- byterian from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and there will be a Nativity scene display, along with carolers singing holiday favourites along Main Street during the day. Arbor Gallery on Home Avenue will present a vernissage of affordable small art works suitable as unique Christmas gifts. Artist Susan Jephcott will be at 151 Main Street East to chat with fans and autograph copies of her new book, The Tangerine Cat. Ouimet Farms Adventure will provide a vintage sleigh for souvenir group photos with Victorian-style capes, bonnets and other Dickensian apparel provided for photo sub- jects. Half of the five-dollar photo fee goes to a local charitable community project. More event details, including ticket pur- chase information, are available at www. vankleekhill.ca/HomeTour.
