Cougars deal with early-season struggle draws to a close. The two clubs have each won and lost four games so far, giving them both .500 averages in the NCJHL standings as of Oct. 23.

The Cougars were inOrléans over the past Oct. 14th weekend, for a game against the Cumberland Bandits. The Bandits clipped the Cougars 7-2 by the end of third period Saturday night. Scoring for Vankleek Hill were Nikolas Ayotte and Charles Doyon, with goal assists coming fromDoyon, Riley Sauvé and Ryan Allen. The Oct. 21st weekend found the Cou- gars in a winning mood, first clipping the GatineauHull-Volant 3-2 at home, Saturday night in overtime, and then taking to the road Sunday to the Athens Arena to slam the South Grenville Rangers 8-3.

Scoring for Vankleek Hill against Gatineau were Ryan Allen, Marc-Antoine Doyon, and Tyler Druce. Goal assists came fromDoyon, Nikolas Ayotte, Tyler Dopelhamer, Trystan Lavoie, and Riley Sauvé. Firing in goals Sunday against the Rangers were Ayotte with two, along with singles from Allen, Druce, Sauvé, Ronnie Boots, Charles Doyon, and Marc-Antoine Doyon. Goal assists throughout the game came from Allen, Ayotte, Sauvé, Hugo Blanchard, Kevin Doyle, Charles Doyon, Byron Gagne-La- victoire, Xavier Lemoine, Charles-Oliver Portelance, and Brenden Rowe.

The Vankleek Hill Cougars are experien- cing some difficulties with their game-win strategy after the first fewweeks of the new season in the National Capital Junior Hoc- key League. After eight games each, both the Cou- gars and the Saint-Isidore Aigles, two of the veteran clubs in the National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL), are tied with each other for number seven position in the league standings, as the month of October

The Papineauville Vikings are leading in the standings though they have nine games finished on their schedule, with seven wins and a pair of losses. The Gatineau Hull-Vo- lant and the North Dundas Rockets are tied for second place right now, after eight games played each and win-loss tallies of six and two. Occupying the league basement are the Bytown Royals with seven games played and not a single win so far.
