her sight. You might think that “mistake” would have left her embittered for life. Yet she wrote over 9,000 hymns in her life, including such favorites as Blessed Assurance and All the Way My Savior Leads Me . The chorus to Blessed Assurance expresses her strong faith, This is my story, this is my song. Praising my Savior all the day long . When someone told her that it was a “pity” she had lost her eyesight, she quickly responded this way... If at birth I had been able to make one petition, it would have been that I was born blind. Because when I get to heaven, the first face that shall ever gladden my sight will be that of my Savior. Psalm 40:3 says, He has put a new song into my mouth, even praises unto our Lord. He keeps us singing, and that’s good news. At our age, our voices are not strong. But we keep singing, and we look forward to that glorious day when we will be finally Home. When that day comes, we will be part of that great choir that will sing, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain. (Revelation 5:12) Have you ever put your personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ? You can have a great faith, but unless you make it personal, you will never enjoy all the things the Lord has done. If you’ve never made that decision, why don’t you do that right now? Admit to God you’re a sinner and then ask the living Son of God to come into your heart. Take a moment to thank Him for dying on the Cross for you. Invite Him into your heart, and then you will experience in a personal way this Great Faith.
