Sunday skating spectacle

One common comment Whittaker and other organizers of the show heard concerned the skills of the youngest skaters who performed in public for their first time, and many of whom had never been on skates at all until they began taking classes at the club this season. «People are impressed at the talent that the club has,» Whittaker said. «This event showcases the successes of all the skaters for the season.» There are two more skating competi- tions for club members before the end of the season. STARSkate duos Xavier Whittaker and Cassandra Pagé, and duo Zachary Whittaker and Rosalie Groulx head to Brampton over the March 15 wee- kend for the provincials while the club as a whole has the skating invitationals in Messina, New York to attend over the March 21 weekend.
Proud parents and local fans of figure ska- ting had excellent views Sunday afternoon of the young ice dancers of the Clarence Creek Skating Club as they stepped out onto the ice of the main rink at the Cla- rence-Rockland Arena Sundaymorning to strut their stuff in the club’s annual end- of-season spectacular. «It was a success,» said Nathalie Whitta- ker, club representative, adding that both parents of the skaters and other spectators «had nothing but nice things to say» about the show. The four seasons formed the basic fra- mework for the show schedule but the overall theme, as the title suggested, was What’s Up/Quoi Faire?, with skaters pro- viding the answer to the question as they performed solo, dual, and group choreo- graphy with musical accompaniment that ranged from the sci-fi adventure of the
