‘This Year I Will’ Leadership Summit

Melaleuca Malaysia

“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to success is more important than any other thing.” This inspirational quote by Abraham Lincoln strongly resonated with the over thousand- strong crowd at Melaleuca Malaysia’s Leadership Summit, held at the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre in October. It is this resolution to success that saw Melaleuca Malaysia’s growth record hitting above 35% in the first 9 months of 2017, as announced by General Manager Chew Ai-Leen. Thanking the Marketing Executives for their roles in Melaleuca’s remarkable success, Ai-Leen also says, “Melaleuca’s emphasis on wellness doesn’t stop at physical or financial wellness. Our business builders garner personal growth and development that isn’t easily found elsewhere. Throughout the past 4 years, I’ve heard many stories of personal growth that is a result of leaders getting out of their comfort zone and becoming a better version of their former self!” The Leadership Summit saw a line-up of training sessions, inspirational sharing by successful leaders, exciting announcements and well-deserved recognitions. Eric Chao, one of Taiwan’s youngest Executive Directors, spoke on what it takes to approach millennials and how best to cultivate this new generation of leadership. “Being young is not necessarily an advantage, not everyone is who you are looking for. But once you find the right people, provide a platform for them to learn, work and be accountable. Organize appropriate activities assimilating Melaleuca’s culture into their lifestyle,” Eric advises, saying that millennials’ dare to dream attitude makes them go-getters who’d move mountains to achieve their goals.

Lauding Eric’s session, Director 3 Olivia Sow says, “I learned that the journey is as important as the destination. Eric targeted becoming Senior Director in 2 years but he didn’t make it. He spent 2 years and 2 months instead. You see, the most important thing is to set a target, rather than no target at all!” Next, Executive Director Joanne Khoo’s session touched on navigating social media platforms and its advantages in helping to build the business. “Make sure that your social media platform is a reflection of your life. Integrate your Melaleuca business into the daily activities that you do and people will be interested to learn more,” Joanne says. The Leadership Summit also saw the recognition of Marketing Executives’ advancements and the celebration of their achievements. Loud cheers and smiling faces were aplenty, with attendees congratulating their fellow Marketing Executives on their success. Senior Director Clarissa Lim says, “I’ve attended every Leadership Summit and it never fails to inspire. This year is simply amazing seeing so many advancements and being able to learn from different leaders on how to excel in my Melaleuca business.” Not only that, the crowd was also excited with the announcement of new and improved products, which included CoreMega EPA/DHA, Hidden Garden Peach Flavor Oolong Tea, Revive Air Care range, as well as the Sei Bella Bright Eyes Multi-Benefit Eye Treatment. Associate Director of Sales,

Jonathan Ting, also thrilled the crowd when he announced the impending launch of Melaleuca’s Chinese language website. Director 3 Eric So, a first-time participant, says that the event was an eye-opener and further enhanced his belief that he is in the right company. “The Summit showcases Melaleuca’s culture, and being able to learn from leaders who have built a successful Melaleuca business gave me amazing insight.” Being different from other companies has indeed given Melaleuca a competitive advantage, allowing business builders to build successful, sustainable businesses. Jake Mangum, Melaleuca Vice President of International, wraps it up succinctly, “Melaleuca’s Consumer Direct Marketing™ model sees real people, buying real products, because they really want them. This is why we have a high customer retention and repeat purchase rate, and why our business is sustainable and residual income long-lasting. And that, is our competitive advantage.”
