CERTIFICATES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Delivery The entire course is delivered using our online learning platform supported by a series of interactive activities; comprehensive documentation and online presentations. Assessment is primarily via continual assessment with a worked payroll scenario and multiple choice questionnaire at the end where you will be required to calculate a manual payroll, putting your new skills to use. The recommended study time per week on average is around seven hours. Benefits of online learning include: l Value for money - webinars are a low cost and effective learning too l Learn anytime, anywhere - as well as the interactive webinars, you can download the recorded webcast after the event so they can refer back at a time, date and location to suit them l Subscribe to RSS feeds to ensure that you never miss an online learning opportunity There are assessments at the end of the course which you will need to pass in order to achieve the qualification. These are as follows: 1. A multiple choice online assessment (Pass mark 70%) 2. A scenario based assignment (Pass mark 70%) 3. An assignment of 2,500 words set against your work place (Pass mark D-) 4. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) you must pass all modules to gain access to the Foundation Degree in Payroll Management Year two. These are a multiple choice test, scenario based assessment, Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) online test and an assignment (2500 words and the student will be required to achieve a minimum of D-) How do I enrol? Progression Once successfully completed you will have gained direct access to the Foundation Degree in Payroll Managment Year two. (See page 32 for details) Content This qualification is conducted completely online and covers the following topics:

l Overview of automatic enrolment l Calculating gross pay and apportionment of gross pay l Voluntary and statutory deductions l The pay statement

l Statutory entitlement and qualification criteria l Exclusions and ceasing entitlement l Terminology l Calculating payments l Record keeping and statutory forms l Attachment of Earning Orders l Student loan deductions l Overview of end of year statutory requirements l Basic payroll obligations l Team formation, selection and function l Communications and decision making l Team development

l Tax codes and tax free pay l Tax percentages and rates l P45 and P46 procedures l Calculation of tax and NICs l NI percentages and rates l Starters and leavers

l HMRC penalties for non-compliance l Recovery procedures and offsetting l Resolving disagreements on entitlement

Each topic consists of comprehensive learning materials; links to a range of external material; and knowledge tests associated with these topics. Some are enhanced with streaming video and interactive lessons and tutorials, utilising video conferencing over the internet.

There will be two assessments; one is a multiple choice test, and the other is a scenario based assignment.
