Description

The primary responsibilities of faculty members in the Adjunct Track are to perform teaching, research, clinical care, and/or service on a part-time basis. Individuals in this track have part time responsibilities towards the Department of Pediatrics with major academic responsibilities in another department at the University or at other institutions. Individuals appointed on the Adjunct Track possess all the professional and academic qualifications of full-time faculty on the Clinical Service, Educator, Research or Field Service non-tenure tracks, and the Clinical Investigator, Educator, or Research tenure tracks, as appropriate. For each faculty member in the Adjunct Track it is essential that the faculty member and his or her Division Director prepare a detailed job description, criteria, and metrics for promotion in order to provide the guidelines for evaluation of performance by the departmental and college Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure committees. Criteria may be reviewed by the Department Chair. Initial appointment, reappointment, or promotion at all academic ranks must meet similar requirements as appointment or reappointment in the equivalent full-time track, with scaled down responsibilities and expectations corresponding to the part time nature of the appointment. A requirement for reappointment and/or promotion for all ranks in this track will be the acknowledgement of the faculty member’s affiliation to the College of Medicine on all scholarly works and/or publications.
