Description

Faculty in the Field Service Track perform essential roles in the education, clinical, research and service programs of the department, and may hold degrees such as Master of Social Work, Master of Audiology, or doctoral level degrees in science or other disciplines. These individuals contribute in special ways to departmental excellence in education, research and patient care. For each faculty member in the Field Service Track it is essential that the faculty member and his or her Division Director prepare a detailed job description, criteria, and metrics for promotion (which may be subject to change over time) in order to provide the guidelines for evaluation of performance by the departmental and college Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure committees. Criteria may be reviewed by the Department Chair and/or RPT Committee Chair. A requirement for reappointment and/or promotion for all ranks in this track will be the acknowledgement of the faculty member’s affiliation to the College of Medicine on all scholarly works and/or publications. Instructor: Appointment as an instructor in the Field Service Track is for those individuals who have recently completed their training in a specialized area and/or have limited experience in the application of their training. Recommendations from mentors, records indicating commendable academic performance, and applicable certification or licensure are required. Assistant Professor: Appointment, reappointment, or promotion to the rank of Assistant Professor in the Field Service Track is based on a high level of performance and contributions in the candidate’s area of responsibility at the local (divisional, departmental, hospital, and university) level in service/leadership, teaching/mentoring, research, and clinical service, as applicable. Associate Professor: Appointment, reappointment, or promotion to the rank of Associate Professor in the Field Service Track is based on a high level of performance and significant contributions in the candidate’s area of responsibility at the local and regional level in service/leadership, teaching/mentoring, research, and clinical service, as applicable. Professor: Appointment, reappointment, or promotion to the rank of Professor in the Field Service track is based on long-standing excellence in performance and major contributions in the candidate’s area of responsibility at the local, regional and national level in service/leadership, teaching/mentoring, research, and clinical service, as applicable.
