PROFESSOR
RESEARCH AND SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES Required Criteria Project leader of a focused, independent program of educational research or scholarly activity Sustained record of high-quality, high-impact publications in peer-reviewed journals Substantial grant support for scholarly activities at the local, regional or national level Recognition of excellence in educational scholarship at the national or international level Evidence of collaborative scholarly activities Supporting Criterion Participation in activities that may lead to the translation of intellectual property into potentially commercially viable products TEACHING AND MENTORING Required Criteria Sustained, significant commitment to education and recognition as an outstanding teacher of students, residents, fellows, faculty, or continuing medical education participants Substantial, high-quality mentoring of medical students, residents, fellows, and/or junior faculty Expertise in clinical care which leads to excellent patient outcomes Development of clinical skills, improvement interventions, or programs that are nationally distinctive Supporting Criterion National or international recognition of clinical skills SERVICE AND LEADERSHIP Required Criteria Leadership role in the academic health center or university, professional organizations, and/or the community Leadership role in educational scholarship Leadership role in his/her discipline or area of expertise at the national or international level CLINICAL SERVICE Required Criteria PROFESSIONALISM Required Criteria Serves as a role model in acting in a professional manner in interactions with students, trainees, patients, families and colleagues Serves as a role model in maintaining a high standard of ethics in research
