Home sooner than they imagined It’s not just the experience we had. It’s the finished product. The home we’re living in is such a high- quality home. – Jessi ' ' They had one simple hope - to be in their new home before Christmas. Throughout construction, their Site Manager Scott called every fortnight with an update on what had happened and what was coming next.
Built for the life they love. For Jessi & Shaylan, the difference between a house and a home is simple. “To me, a home is somewhere that’s full of love and happiness, somewhere you feel like you belong,” Jessi says. It’s a feeling they already knew well. Their first home was where they began married life and welcomed their two children. They loved their street, their neighbours and the area they had both grown up in. They simply needed more space. Rather than leave the area they loved, Jessi and Shaylan decided to knock down and rebuild, creating the extra space their growing family needed.
Plenty of reasons to love coming home
For their children, the excitement was immediate. They ran through the house exploring their new rooms before discovering the little space under the stairs that quickly became their own secret hideaway. Today, everyone has their own reasons to love coming home. Jessi finally has the walk-in linen she dreamed of, along with a kitchen and walk- in pantry she loves. Shaylan has his fireplace, walk-in wardrobe and ensuite. The kids have their own rooms, their hideaway under the stairs and, of course, the pool. But for Jessi and Shaylan, what they love most about their new home is what it means for their family. “All we have ever wanted is to have a happy family and live in a home that we designed and that’s perfect for us,” Jessi says.
“Scott was phenomenal,” Jessi says. “He didn’t skip a beat.”
“He made sure we knew exactly what was happening. He made us feel like we were part of the journey,” Shaylan says. Their build was completed in just 37 weeks, around 17 weeks earlier than anticipated. “We were in before Christmas... in July!” Jessi says.
“It’s our forever home,” Shaylan adds.
Finding the perfect fit
Their block was unusually wide and shallow and keeping the family’s much-loved pool made finding the right design a challenge. “We searched so many different websites and spoke to different builders,” Jessi explains. Then they discovered the Saratoga 44, a design that not only worked with their block but had the layout and sense of space they had been searching for. “What really stood out for me was the layout,” Jessi says. “I felt like I was getting so much more with Clarendon.” Shaylan adds, “We looked at that design and thought, that’s pretty much perfect. There was very little we had to change to make it ours.”

The Site Inspection The building process starts off with a land assessment to ensure your new home complies with all the necessary regulations. This includes a site inspection, a borehole soil test, preparation of a zoning certificate and a comprehensive contour survey of your land.
The Tender A member of our customer service team will be in touch to arrange a tender appointment. During the meeting we will confirm your site costs (based on the information received from the site inspections/surveys) and cover any changes and questions you might have. Once you’ve accepted your tender we’ll provide you with colour selection information and a sample copy of the HIA building agreement.
The Building Contract Now that your new home tender has been accepted we will prepare a full set of architectural drawings of your new home and prepare a building contract, which includes your contract tender, with accurate pricing on any variations you have made to your home. A member of our Customer Service team will be in touch to arrange your contract appointment. At the meeting you will also meet with one of our Construction Finance Managers to discuss the progress of your loan.
Lifestyle Studio Selections The Clarendon Lifestyle Studio Team is here to help personalise your new home. We’ll contact you to arrange a meeting to complete your selections once your contract is signed. Selections include:
Expert Reports & Lodgements We’ll obtain the reports required to submit the necessary applications for your new home to be approved, (including Developer approval if applicable) these include: l Thermal and BASIX reports (as required) l Hydraulic stormwater reports (as required) l Structural engineer report l Water board approval (including sewer peg-out if required) l Landscape plan (as required) If you are required to provide any reports in order for your applications to be lodged, we will let you know so you can provide them to your Customer Service Consultant. These reports and other documentation will form part of the package we provide to the developer, the Council or Certifier. When your lodgement is ready, we’ll submit the paperwork and make any payments related to Council, developer and Certifier assessments. If you’ve arranged your own finance, we’ll provide you with a ‘bank pack’ after colour selections have been finalised. This includes all the information you’ll need to obtain formal approval of your loan. If you are utilising the services of one of our Construction Finance Managers, we will liaise directly with the lender on your behalf.
Building Approval & Site Start Once the approvals for your home are received, we will: l Review your file and let you know if any other documentation is needed in order for construction to start l We will complete your final construction plans, incorporating all variations for your sign off l We will ensure you have all the information that your lender will need to provide you with a formal loan approval. If you are utilising the services of our Construction Finance Managers, we will liaise directly with the lender for you l Once we have received your signed ‘Final Plans’ and have all other required items, we will start preparing your file for construction (site start).
