Community Happenings Autumn

Music and performance Music brought some truly memorable moments this autumn. Our St Patrick’s Day bagpiper was wonderful, and hearing one of us join in for a song made the afternoon extra special. Our Elvis tribute performance in April was moving in the most unexpected way. In the middle of the show, the performer paused to dedicate Can’t Help Falling in Love to one of our residents who had passed before she could attend. There was not a dry eye in the room. Then one of our residents got up and sang for us, and it became an afternoon none of us will forget.

Creativity and connection We kept busy right across the quarter. Knitting circles, cooking sessions, pancake making, music therapy, bingo, and friendly games of pool all featured on our calendar. The Henny Penny chickens visited in April and brought back fond memories for so many of us before going off to their new homes. And one of the loveliest moments of March came when one of our residents started teaching a staff member how to knit. It was a lovely afternoon.
