P&G Wins Dow Packaging Award The Dow Chemical Company an- nounced the winners of the 2018 30th Awards for Packaging Innova- tion, which recognizes the packag- ing industry’s top achievements in innovative packaging designs, mate- rials, technologies and processes. Dow’s 2018 30th Awards for Pack- aging Innovation successfully con- tinues the DuPont Awards for Packaging Innovation program, which is the industry’s longest-run- ning independently judged packag- ing awards program. As in years past, the judging panel featured ex- perts with diverse backgrounds, pro- viding global perspectives across design, engineering, retail, convert- ing and academia. The highest honor, the Diamond Award, went to Procter & Gamble’s Air Assist, a breakthrough in perfor- mance and sustainabili- ty for e-commerce and brick-and-mortar pack- aging. Two centerpieces at Anderson & Vreeland will be the Flint Xpress Thermal Plate Processor and the Xeikon ThermoflexX digital imager. The made-in-the-USA Xpress features remote service and diag- nostics, the scalability to handle plates up to 42 x 65 inches and a short-wave IR heating system for precise heating depth control, resulting in excellent dimensional plate stability with- out the need for a chiller. And, with an eye on the environ- ment, the Flint Xpress offers a waste recovery program for all consumables produced by the machine. The Xeikon ThermoflexX 30 digital imager combines digital technology with an open, modular workflow to accelerate the platemaking process while producing high-quality flexograph- ic and letterpress plates at resolutions up to 5080 DPI, accord- ing to the company.
