Kirby Power & Renewables team has successfully delivered the design and build of a new 38kV substation and grid connection for a medical device client in Co Galway. The contractor was responsible for electrical and civil works associated with the MV Building, including switch and control rooms and an AIS yard comprising two transformers and associated AIS equipment. It also carried out the civil and general services works for the ESB 38kV building. In addition, the project involved the supply and installation of outgoing cables to diesel generators, and the installation of MV switchboards in both the customer substation and main facility buildings. Kirby used advanced, digital engineering technologies to coordinate and model all civil and electrical services for the project. The company also undertook the role of PSCS, selected and procured the HV and MV plant and undertook all customer HV and MV commissioning on the project. www.kirbygroup.com 38kV substation completed by Kirby

Suir delivers landmark solar project
Suir Engineering has supported the delivery of Clonfad Solar PV Park, a landmark 130MW renewable energy project in Westmeath. Representing a major step forward in Ireland’s journey towards net zero, the ground-mounted solar energy project has been developed across 260 hectares and is designed to deliver long-term renewable energy benefits to the region. It aims to generate enough clean electricity to power approximately 25,000 homes, while offsetting an estimated 40,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year. Suir Engineering has completed
all cabling to connect and bring power to 300,000 solar panels. Its works include installation of a 33 kV collector circuit; AC LV cabling from inverters to STSs; STSs, inverters and associated cabling infrastructure; FO cable network infrastructure; solar panel DC cables; and CCTV and communication systems. Alongside full solar farm testing and commissioning, Suir Engineering also delivered PSCS responsibilities, full solar farm fencing, auxiliary power systems and weather
stations systems. www.suireng.com

Industry training provider ETT NI has hosted a CPD Power Session, focused on BS 7671:2018 + A4:2026 Amendment 4 and delivered by certification body NAPIT. Held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Belfast Templepatrick on May 21, the session has already been delivered to more than 1,600 ETT members at events across GB. The event provided a structured overview of Amendment 4 changes, insight into inspection and testing implications and practical guidance on applying the updates through the EICR Codebreaker resource. A live expert panel with interactive Q&A session was also held on the day, and supplier partners showcased their latest innovations. Free to attend, the session featured refreshments and a £50 training voucher for every attendee. ETT is committed to supporting electricians and contractors through the sharing of best practice, technical knowledge and meaningful professional development opportunities, and thanks NAPIT and its industry partners for making the event a great success. www.ett-ni.org ETT hosts NAPIT CPD session
