Abbott-Action also supports a 180,000-square-foot fin- ished goods warehouse and fulfillment/assembly center 20 minutes from Attleboro in Smithfield, Rhode Island. The Machine Family Ed Coogan, Abbott-Action’s Director of Operations, is a 20+ year industry veteran who in his previous life was a customer who used to buy boxes from his current employ- er. “I was a big ‘continuous improvement and lean manu- facturing guy’ in my previous job, which is really how I got started here and why Abbott-Action and I have been such a great fit,” he says, adding that the company’s real long- term success has been built on the decisions to invest in the ten key pieces of converting equipment on its produc-
