Creating a layer mask from selection Make it fast.
You can apply a selection as the layer mask immediately. In fact just add a mask while having the selection active.
Make sure you have the selection defined and active (the red dot indicates active selection)
Then add the layer mask as usually (see page 162 if you want to see how to)
The newly created mask contains the selection mask

If you want to copy the mask to another layer, use Select command in the mask options to make a selection from the original mask, then immediately add a new mask to another layer.
