Teamwork • To be the overall leader of the sustainability team, setting the overall goals and objectives, directing the team and identifying what needs to be done, by when. • To be responsible for allocating work, monitoring its achievement by team members and providing feedback to them. • To identify the training and development needs of the members of the work team, by analysing achievement of team objectives and identifying learning needs arising from shortfalls and conducting regular staff appraisals and performance reviews and agreeing what needs to be done to satisfy any training or development needs. • Play a key role in the smooth running of the Estates Division. • Be an active member of the LSE Estates Division; motivate other members of the team to provide a quality information and advice service to all stakeholders. • Ensure effective prioritisation of work, knowing when to refer to other members of the team. • Be an active member of the wider School community playing a key role in promoting sustainability.

Note The LSE has a progressive pay structure that rewards you with annual pay increases up to a certain level as you develop in your role. We also provide for further reward past this point in the form of further pay increases based on exceptional performance. Flexibility To deliver services effectively, a degree of flexibility is needed, and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above. • Manage the recurring Sustainability budget. Ensuring all relevant sustainability initiatives are fully costed and funded, and that any services procured provide the best value for money, ensuring all activities are in accordance with LSE financial procedures. • Propose initiatives to continually improve LSE’s environmental performance, evaluating options to ensure feasibility and cost effectiveness, and present clear recommendations to enable senior management to make appropriate decisions. • Able to work under pressure using available resources efficiently and meeting a wide range deadlines and timescales. • Good project management skills to deliver the School sustainability agenda. Initiative and Problem Solving • To evaluate strengths and weaknesses of alternative courses of action and to contribute to the formulation of policy objectives and problem- solving options for consideration by the Estates Management Team • Responsible for identifying ways to improve sustainability within the service, working closely with Estates staff to develop and introduce new systems.
