2021 3rd Quarter - Crimes Against Persons In the Third Quarter of 2021, Crimes Against Persons increased 6.2% overall with 3,752 offenses reported compared to 3,533 reports in the Third Quarter of 2020.

Quarterly Stats

In the Third Quarter of 2021, homicide offenses decreased 12.5% with 28 homicide victims compared to 32 in the Third Quarter of 2020.

Motives included thirteen unknown, six arguments/fights, five domestic, one retaliation, one road rage, one robbery, and one self - defense.

There was one triple homicide and one double homicide in Council District 3 and one double homicide in Council District 8. Fourteen of the 28 homicides have been filed.

Seven homicides in Council District 8, six homicides in Council Districts 3 and 6, four homicides in Council District 5, two homicides in Council District 4, and 1 homicide in Council Districts 2, 7, and 9.

Twenty - two homicides involved firearms which is 78% of all homicide offenses.

Homicide Prevention Strategies FWPD ’ s homicide prevention strategies involve various partnerships. Neighborhood Police Officers, the Victim Assistance Section, and One Safe Place provide outreach services to prevent domestic violence crimes that have the potential to turn into a homicide. In addition, the Homicide Unit works closely with the Crime Lab as policies have changed allowing for more timely entry of ballistic intelligence into the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearm's (ATF) National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN) to more readily identify persons who may be involved in violent offenses. The Homicide Unit also continues to work with members of the Gang, Narcotics, and Robbery Units where other criminal activity may elevate to homicide.
