FIVE-YEAR COMMITMENT TO HEALTH How Victor Hunt Lost 300+ Pounds, Gained More Time With His Kids
“Six months of counseling, and everything else was my will power... and kids power,” he explains. Victor’s advice to others starts with a mindset. “The biggest thing is counseling to get your mind right first and know it’s going to be tough,” he offers. “You have to have as many tools as you can to strengthen your mind and have a goal to where you’re trying to be.” MORE THAN WEIGHT LOSS “The most rewarding change beyond weight loss,” Victor says, “is more years added to my life, and more time around my kids.” Today, Victor is motivated to help others who may feel overwhelmed by the idea of starting. “Call me and I’ll help you through your journey. I have no problem being anybody’s coach,” he says. “I’m here to help anybody, help any driver. If I have to help 50 people, I don’t mind.” Victor achieved amazing results on his weight loss journey, and you can too! T m With the help of some counseling and a solid weight-loss plan, Decatur associate VICTOR HUNT dropped more than 300 pounds.
For VICTOR HUNT , change didn’t happen overnight, and it didn’t come easily. He’s a city driver with our Decatur team who’s spent long hours on the road, building up habits that took a toll on his health. What followed was a five-year weight loss journey guided by discipline and determination. Looking back, Victor says his son and daughter were his biggest motivation and support. “If I’m all my kids have, I need to make sure to be around for them,” he says. “When it comes to having to take care of your kids, it motivates you to no limits.” When Victor began his journey, he weighed 575 pounds. Today, he weighs 242 pounds, the result of consistency and self-discipline. As his health declined, Victor said just moving around would leave him winded and sweating heavily. During his journey, he also required a blood transfusion after his hemoglobin levels dropped dangerously low, a sign of how much strain his body had been under. THE WORK BEHIND THE CHANGE Victor’s lifestyle hasn’t always looked the same. He began playing football at just 10 years old and continued through college. Afterward, he entered the transportation industry, and the unique demands of the job began to affect his health negatively. “When you’re driving, it’s easy to slip into a pattern of just driving and eating,” he says. “So I got big, and the muscle I had – the body and all that – eventually turned into fat.” The journey brought mental challenges alongside the physical ones. One of the hardest moments for Victor came when he saw a photo of himself wearing a shirt that read “World’s Greatest Dad.” The shirt he was wearing in the picture was an XL, while he wore a size 7XL at the time. “I developed some crazy eating habits, and I had to change everything,” says Victor. What started as a setback became motivation. “I had a goal and a reason: my kids, my health, I wanted to do better. And I needed to do better,” he says. “I am thankful that March 21 will be five years since I started this process.” So how did Victor make all this possible?
