Selon un résident du secteur, qui a récemment présenté le problème aux membres du conseil municipal, le parc lui-même serait très achalandé, bien qu’aucun stationnement ne soit disponible pour y accéder. Les visiteurs se garent donc sur les deux rues. Selon Pierre Boucher, directeur des Services communautaires, celui-ci ne serait pas au courant de plaintes ayant été déposées auprès de la Ville, à ce sujet. « S’il y a de 30 à 40 voitures sur ces chemins, ça pourrait être un danger potentiel », a-t-il souligné. EJTQVUFSFWJFXDMBVTFPG/"'5"BTQBSUPG the USMCA, and also protecting Canadian media from potential hostile takeovers by American corporations. “It’s evident that they (Canadian govern- ment) have sacrificed dairy, egg, and chicken farmers,” said Lemieux. “Those farmers are very upset.” 8JUIBTTJTUBODFGSPN$POTFSWBUJWF.1 Guy Lauzon of Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry, Lemieux has launched a petition project, with notices on his own campaign website, ads in local media and a brochure mail-out, explaining the purpose of the petition and asking for signatures. “There was a wave of signatures after the newspaper ads came out,” said Lemieux, “and a second wave after the brochures went out.” He noted that the current rotating postal strike has delayed the arrival of brochures in some parts of the riding but he is not worried about that, as the petition project is just getting underway. “I haven’t done a tally yet, but people are concerned,” he said, adding that he will present the petition to Parliament at a later date. %VSJOH BO JOUFSWJFX/PWFNCFS .1 Drouin said he is willing to forward a petition to Parliament whenever Lemieux presents it to his office. Letter to the editor, His (the mayor’s) cost estimate are way over the top. Many sites, including the three main ones, peg the cost of fluoridation at no more than 75 cents per resident. By comparison, that is shown to be recouped every year due to decreased medical bills. Perhaps they should contact other cities and regions on environmental impacts. Orleans and Ottawa are upstream dumping on us, if it is of issue. The cost and environmental explanations are just shiny objects and key jangling. Where did $500,000 come from as a cost? That is nowhere, in any data I have run across. And when I used 75 cents that was a big over estimate, it might be 35 cents, which is the average cost. FLUORIDE: THE MAYOR HAS IT WRONG I would urge residents to research for themselves, on recognized authority sites. But most of all, ask a dentist or hygienist. Brushing teeth had more to do with gum disease and minimal impact on cavities. Chlorine is in our tap water and has a much more dangerous history of effects on health, as well as environment. Why is chlo- rine permitted and fluoride not? Perhaps the fear campaign from misinformation fanners hit home here. The Mayor’s response clearly and politi- cally hinted nothing would change. For some unknown reasoning of our politicians, the idea of the dilution of this toxic by-product is deemed safe to put in our drinking water if diluted enough.

Particularly, I would like to thank May Ferrara for representing all of the Silver Cross Mothers, Jean-Marc Lalonde who represented The Honourable Francis Drouin, André Lalonde who represented The Honourable Amanda Simard, Cla- rence-Rockland mayor Guy Desjardins, all the organizations and businesses that generously laid wreaths during the cere- mony and finally Club Powers (Knights of Columbus) for their generous donation of the use of the upper hall for our luncheon. In addition, I would like to thank the city of Clarence-Rockland for their support with the supply of the PA system and chairs for the Ceremony.
Today we were also treated to a flight from a squadron of CF-18 Hornets. Thanks to Stanley Horton, our Sgt-at- Arms who organized the parade and all those that marched along with the 832 Twillick Air Cadet Band and Legion and Cadet colour party. Last but not least our thanks go out to the Ontario Provincial Police and the Cla- rence-Rockland Fire Fighters Association for their assistance with our parade from and to Club Powers. Letter to the editor I’m writing to express my opinion about an article printed last week about fluoridating our drinking water. I moved to Rockland because there is no fluoridation program in this smart town. The evidence is overwhelmingly against the fluoridation of the planet’s drinking water. The most advanced countries in the world refuse the fluoridation of their water supply. The United States is the exception to the rule because of the lobbyists promoting the phosphate companies’ interests. The main fluoride that is added into drinking water is not a natural compound found in nature, it is not pharmaceutical grade fluoride. It’s Fluorosilicis Acid, (google it). It’s a
The parts per million (PPM) of fluoride added in drinking water is way above the natural occurring levels in nature and cause many anomalies such as arthritic pain, bone disorders, lower IQ’s and shorter life spans. At the age of 60 I’ve come to believe that we can’t just accept what the government and politician and media tell us about what is good for us. The amount of information avai- lable to the population today is immense and should be used to make our own decisions. As a taxpayer in a free country I don’t want my government telling me I have to take what they deem a medicine they think is good for me. That is my choice. And I definitely don’t need a class action lawsuit against the brilliance of our City of Rockland to not fluoridate our drinking water. Research the information yourselves. From there, Catchpaugh never looked back. She now works out of her own personal gym, located in her residence. Witnessing the local weightlifter during her competition, one might think that she works out several times a day in order to keep her shape. “I actually work out about an hour every morning and I’m always careful to give myself time to relax,” she explained. “Working out
in the morning actually gives me a lot of energy to tackle the day.” Catchpaugh, a Canfitpro certified personal trainer, wants to help local residents tackle weight loss. She operates Genesis Fitness, offering personalized private sessions in her gym. In addition, she offers programs for women over the age of 40.
“Be stronger than your excuses.” This is the motto Forest Hill resident Dawn Catchpaugh lives by. She recently took part in the Ottawa Canadian Physique Alliance CPEZCVJMEJOHDPNQFUJUJPO PO/PWFNCFS at the Algonquin College in Ottawa. “It was my first time taking part in a com- petition,” she explained. “I was nervous at first, but it went very well.” It certainly did. The mother of three and grandmother of two came back to Forest Hill with three medals. She came in 4th in the /PWJDFBOE.BTUFSDBUFHPSZBOESEJOUIF Grandmaster category. It was a dream Catchpaugh harbored since she was 16 years of age. “It’s some- thing that had interested me back then, but that I hadn’t pursued,” she said. Becoming a grandmother The mother of three’s jump into the world of weightlifting began after her daughter announced that she was pregnant. “When she told me, I realized I wanted to be a grandma that could do things with her grand- children,” she explained. But it wasn’t going to be easy. Catch- paugh stressed that she was overweight and smoked about two packs of cigarettes a day. “It took a lot of hard work,” she admitted. At first, she had trouble keeping concen- trated. “I used to do cardio,” she said. “I used to look at myself in the mirror and

It is held at the fairgrounds off of Colonial Road. The fair currently features midway rides, live music, concession stands, demolition derbies, exhibitions, parades, and various shows. The first fair took place in 1946. The admission for the first year of the fair was 35 cents for adults, 25 cents for children, and 25 cents for cars.

The City of Clarence-Rockland is currently seeking applications to fill the positions of Volunteer Firefighter. We will be holding an information session for all men and women candidates who are interested in joining our team, along with their spouses, on Thursday November 22, 2018 in the Council Chamber, 415 Lemay Street in Clarence-Creek, from 7 pm to 9 pm. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS ( to be explained during the information session) • be physically and intellectually fit • be 18 years of age or older • Live and/or work in the City of Clarence- Rockland • provide for his/her own means of transportation and have a valid driver’s licence • must qualify and obtain a “DZ” driver’s licence within the first year of employment. DZ licence training will be available through our department • successfully pass a complete medical examination • have no criminal record • successfully complete a written test, an agility test (job related) and all other tests required by the Clarence- Rockland Fire Department (i.e.: ladders and breathing apparatus) • have successfully completed grade 12 secondary education or equivalent • Proficiency in French and English (spoken & written) • Volunteer firefighters hired by the Clarence-Rockland Fire Department will have to successfully complete a training program within the prescribed time frame if he/she is to maintain his/her position with the Fire Department.
