TIMBER & CLADDING

SPOTLIGHT ON HIGH-END DECKING PROJECT SUPPLIED BY COMPOSITE DECKING AND CLADDING MANUFACTURER, MILLBOARD… Millboard project: Gamekeeper’s Lodge, a stunning self-build

G amekeeper’s Lodge is a beautiful new build home set in the glorious countryside. Created by Interior Designer Sarah Farrington, the contemporary self-build is a beautifully modern take on a countryside lodge. To complement the inviting, open-plan layout inside the property, Sarah was keen to add a decked terrace area to the front of the property, to sit with friends and enjoy morning coffee or drinks in the evening looking out on to the stunning lake and surrounding countryside – a truly breath-taking view. With the interior of the house being a gorgeous mix of contemporary with a nod to tradition, Millboard’s Enhanced Grain decking in Smoked Oak was the ideal match. It was really important to Sarah that the decking would work well with the interior flooring. Sarah explains, “Smoked Oak is a really

beautiful, natural shade of grey. It’s a seamless transition from inside. From the porcelain tiles, you can head straight out and it feels beautiful underfoot.” Sarah also loves how much like real wood the boards look, with the added bonus of needing little maintenance – a win-win for Sarah, “I chose Millboard because it is a beautiful product. It really looks like real wood, it’s going to last and most-importantly, it’s going to be manageable – I didn’t want to be out here every year treating and painting a deck that’s going green!” Another benefit to Sarah was how nicely the Smoked Oak complements the cedar cladding, which will turn a shade of silver in time. Sarah has been so thrilled with her decking, she has recommended Millboard to her friends and has specified it on another project. Discover more at www.millboard.co.uk

Smoked Oak benefits: Smoked Oak is a cool, elegant grey, ideal for contemporary and coastal settings. It has a soft-grey hue and browner tones that nod to time- seasoned hardwoods – without the wait. Its silvery decadence is both contemporary and traditional. Smoked Oak tastefully complements any outdoor space.
