Eat Plant-Based and Watch Legendary Athletic Performances What’s Going On, Boston?

Nothing feels more invigorating than watching experts do what they do best — that’s what you’ll find at all of these events. Enjoy the legendary musical “Rent,” the largest regatta in the world, and the Boston Veg Food Fest! There’s a little something for everyone this October! ‘RENT’ (Musical) Oct. 12 to Oct. 17 Shubert Theatre Boston, 265 Tremont St., Boston BochCenter.org/buy/show-listing/rent

Head of the Charles Regatta October 22-24 Magazine Beach 668 Memorial Dr, Cambridge HORC.org

125th Boston Marathon October 11 Hopkinton State Park 164 Cedar St, Hopkinton BAA.org

The Head of the Charles Regatta is the largest two-day regatta in the world, with over 11,000 athletes rowing in over 1,900 boats participating in 61 events! The athletes’ experience levels are novice to the Olympics. It takes place on the banks of the River Charles. It’s pretty cool to see so many professional athletes loving that dirty water. (The Standells reference!) Don’t miss these exclusive events — enjoy them while they last!

Not unlike “Hamilton” or “Phantom of the Opera,” even people who aren’t familiar with musicals will often recognize the tunes from “RENT.” For over 25 years, this Tony Award- and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical has become not only a story about a diverse group of artists and friends struggling to follow their dreams, but also a cultural touchstone and a source of joy and strength for millions. Experience it for yourself while you can!

As you may know, the Boston Marathon usually occurs in April — however, for this year only, the Boston Marathon will be taking place on October 11 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This legendary marathon has gathered the attention of athletes worldwide, and whether you’re watching or competing, you won’t want to miss it! Let’s see if the cooler weather helps the athletes’ times.
