Author, podcaster and adventurer, JT Mestdagh ‘14 to speak at 2024 Ring & Founders Day

We are delighted that JT Mestdagh ‘14 will be the featured speaker at Ring & Founders Day on Friday, May 10. JT graduated from University Liggett School in 2014 and has been a motivational speaker, author and adventurer ever since. Diagnosed with VATER Syndrome (a rare combination of several birth defects) JT’s life has been filled with challenges including hundreds of hospitalizations and more than 16 major surgeries before he turned sixteen. “Life is not defined by the challenges we face, but by the determination to conquer them. I’ve learned that every obstacle is an opportunity for growth, every setback a chance to rise stronger. I am honored to share my journey at Ring & Founders Day, where we celebrate resilience, leadership, and the power of unwavering faith in overcoming adversities,” Mestdagh said.

On top of physical challenges, JT suffered from dyslexia and short-term memory loss, which made learning nearly impossible for him. Yet JT pushed past his physical and educational roadblocks to achieve what many people told him he would never do — learn to read, graduate from high school, attend college, and become a successful motivational speaker, influential podcast host, and bestselling author. JT also started a foundation whose mission is — through faith — to inspire and encourage families with medical and educational challenges by providing access to programs and supplies. Find out more about JT here . We are excited to welcome JT back to campus for this annual ceremony where our graduating seniors pass the mantle of leadership to the juniors who will take the helm in the fall.
