joined the Sunday School, and nil of them are much in te r ested and are bringing others to the Club. Please pray for the High School girls, and tell those whom you m eet about our Euodia Clubs of which we have about thirty-five in Los Angeles and vicinity. TWO TROPHIES OF GRACE Ju st over a year ago, one of our workers told of the con version of a girl who was living a life of sin and shame, who, after a sho rt time, went back to th e old ways, but finally retu rn ed in penitence to her Lord and Saviour, fac ing poverty, the County Farm , and (when she was dying) the closed doors of h er only relative. You heard of the funeral; the only mourners being a kind neighbor who had tak en h er to her home and nursed her for the la st few days on earth , and th e Christian friends who by th eir love and patience had won her to Christ; There was also a strang er a t th e funeral, whose name and person were quite unknown. My story is of th a t stranger. One day a t the close of the Men’s Meeting a t th e County Farm , a man stayed behind to speak. He seemed very ill, and asked if he m ight sit as his streng th was nearly gone. He began the conversation abruptly by saying, “ If there is a heaven, I mean to get th ere.” Assuring him of the reality Of heaven, I asked how he expected to get there. “Oh, my church will get me in. I am a Roma® ’Catholic.” We told him of the only One who could save him , and th a t th ere was only one way to heaven, through Christ Jesus. Suddenly his m anner changed and he asked “ Is it pos sible th a t you are th e friend of the girl who was here a sho rt tim e and died about a year ago? I have so often wanted to meet those friends, bu t I have been ill ever since the funeral and th is is my first tim e out and my first tim e a t a P ro testan t meeting.” The Bible Woman told him she was not th e friend, bu t th a t she knew Mary’s story. Then he 'went on to say -“ I shall never fo rg e t meeting her in th e bus on th e way to th e city. Having worked in the dispensary I knew how ill she was, and wondered how she had managed to get leave. I quietly made up my mind to see her to her destination. Her conversation lives in my memory still— it was all about th e wonderful Saviour she had found. She confessed her life of sin, bu t said “It is all forgiven, and I am going to heaven.” A' few days later, knowing she had not retu rn ed , I pu t up some medi cine and journeyed to the city, to find th a t she had died. I attended the funeral. None knew why I was there, hu t it was the reality of her message th a t had gripped me, and I mean to get to heaven if th ere is: one.” Again we showed him from God’s Word th ere was such a place, but th a t no churcn could gain en trance for any of th eir members, for th ere was only one way, even JéSus Christ. He kept repeating between his gasps for breath “Only one way, Jesus Christ.” We found he knew the story of the cross so we begged him to accept JesUs Christ as his own personal Saviour. It was very hard for him to relin quish th e teaching of a lifetime concerning the church, bu t a t last he yielded, repeating again “ Only one way, Jesus Christ. I am a sinner and now accept Him as my Saviour.”
BIBLE WOMEN’S WORK Mrs. :Lyman Stewart, Supt.—Twenty-five Women Engaged in .House to House Personal Work, Bible Classes and Soul Winning Clubs. “THE ENTRANCE OF THY WORD GIVETH EIGHT” Through her personal work, a Bible w om an, entreated a lady who was deeply in love w ith the book “Science and H ealth,” to attend a weekly Bible Class a t the home of the Bible Woman. Christian Science was never mentioned in th e Bible Class, but such teaching as would tend to crowd out false teaching of the Word was tactfu lly set forth. The lady became interested from her first visit to the class and has never missed a single week since last October. The Bible teacher continued to call at th e home of the lady and finally found th a t s h e 'h a d definitely given up Christian Science for the sure Word of God. Now she greets the Bible woman w ith such expressions as, “Oh, I am so happy to know about th e bodily resurrection, and to know th a t we are real not only in th is life b u t also in the life to come. Isn ’t it sad to know th a t so much false teach ing of th e Bible haS gone out in this old world? I am giving out my testimony each day to women wherever I can get a hearing, and also w riting th e tru th s to friends and relatives in the; East. I shall never fail to th a n k God for sending me to your Bible Class.” This little woman is practically alone in the world bravely making her own living. Two sister's1,' her only relatives, do not even w rite to her. We are sure th e g reat K ing’s Busi ness Fam ily will be glad to bekr her up in prayer. WHAT HAPPENED ON THE SIDEWALK An Invitation, A Conversation and A Conversion. “All things work tog ether for good to those th a t love God.” We had changed the meeting place for our usual weekly Euodia Club. There was some delay in getting th e key to open th e Church. While waiting on the sidewalk two High School girls came along and we extended an invitation to them to join our Club. One of the girls said “W hat kind of a Club? W hat do you do? Because if it has anything to do w ith Church,— nothing doing.” A fter explaining th a t it was a Bible Study Club, she was more emphatic th an ever, raised a g reat argum ent and ended by saying she could do w ithout church or the Bible, th a t she did not be lieve in either,— in fact she wouldn’t believe. A fter a long conversation we discovered the girls had been in California th ree years and had never been to either church or Sunday School since they came although they had been accustomed to attending church and Sunday School in the East. Finally, afte r much pleading, one gifl accepted Christ. The other girl said “She doesn’t know w hat she is doing,” to which the girl made reply, “Yes I do. I am accepting Christ as my personal Saviour. I promise to read His book.”' We gave her a T estam ent and then both girls promised to attend our Club the following week. By this time our key had arrived and we ended our meeting by prayer* and thanksgiving for the delay which had ended so gloriously for the Master. Both girls came the following week, each bringing a sister, and th ree o th er conversions have resulted from this incident,— the two sisters and a cousin,-^-who have also
