Lord Jesus Christ, the writer having first been brought in contact with them over twelve years ago. Everything for them seemed on “ Easy Street.” in those days, and “ no room for Jesus” was the cry of their hearts; but sickness came, rapidly developing into an incurable disease, and both husband and wife are now unable to walk, and each in their wheel chairs watched the slow, torturing weeks and months and years, drag by. “ Science” , falsely so-called “ Christian,” was taken up and for twelve years, after trying many prac titioners, the disease continued to grow worse. It became increasingly harder to “ demonstrate” in the face of such terrible reality, and eventually all hopes of cure through “ Science” com pletely died. Some few months ago we visited them in their dreary isolation, and never felt more the utter hopelessness of any case, from a human standpoint. We did our best to present the Gospel to them— God’s simple, artless, unincumbered plan of salvation, but there was no undue pressing; just the Word and much prayer, and God-given faith came that His Word would not return void. Soon after the husband was removed to the County Hospital where the last struggles of “ unreality” were fought out, and then home again to face the stern reality. Man’s extremity proves God’s opportunity, and the other day we had the great joy of hearing from the one who shares most deeply in our sunshine and shadows that they had been brought by her to a clear, definite,] personal receiving of the Lord Jesus as Saviour and Lord, and had begun at once the study of His Word, with the Holy Spirit Himself as their only safe and sure “ Key to the Scriptures.” Hebrews 9:26 was used of Him to smash the lie that “ one sacrifice,” how ever great, is sufficient to “ pay the debt of sin.” It is true that some “ go out only with prayer and fasting,” but the infallible Word of God used by the

Biola Hall, located in the center of the business district, at No. 388 South Spring Street, is well located to meet the needs of the hundreds of business men and women, and in fact, people from all walks of life, who'' pass its doors daily. Here at the noon hour a prayer meeting is held, and many are the thrilling testimonies given of answers to prayers which have gone up from this place. Every night a street meeting is held, and later a live Gospel service in the Hall. One night a young man passed the street meeting, was invited in and accepted Christ as his Saviour, and is now doing efficient work at one of the City Missions. We have a room nicely furnished for the use of the soldiers and sailors, where they may read, rest, write a let ter home, or enjoy some music. Coffee and lemonade is served to them at any time, without charge, and many of the fellows are taking advantage of this privilege. The work is carried on by voluntary contributions, and we shall be very glad to have any of our friends call and see for themselves just what we are .doing here, attend the services, and satisfy themselves that this is a splen did opportunity to make a paying investment.
