Level 4 Stroke Improvement Develops participants’ confidence in the strokes learned in Level 3 and improves other aquatic skills. Students should be able to demonstrate the following: headfirst entries from the side in the compact and stride position, swim underwater, feet-first surface dives, survival swimming, front crawl and backstroke open turns, and treading water using two different kicks. The class will focus on improvement in the 5 basic swim strokes. Classes consist of eight 45 minute lessons. (Prerequisite: Completion of American Red Cross Swimming Level 3) Level 5 Stroke Refinement Students should be able to demonstrate the following: shallow angle dives from the side and then glide and begin a stroke on the front, tuck and pike surface dives (submerging completely), front flip and backstroke flip turns, proper sculling techniques, and to coordinate and refine the front and back crawl, elementary backstroke, breaststroke, sidestroke and butterfly. Classes consist of eight 45 minute lessons. (Prerequisite: Completion of American Red Cross Swimming Level 4) Level 6 Fitness Swimming Teaches students how to prevent aquatic emergencies in various aquatic environments and introduces and practices self-rescue. Students should demonstrate an increased endurance while swimming, the HELP and huddle position, a survival float in deep water, a back float in deep water, and survival swimming. Classes consist of eight 45 minute lessons. ( Prerequisite: Completion of American Red Cross Level 5)

For first time and non-adjusted swimmers. Develops positive attitudes towards swimming and emphasizes the importance of good habits and safe practices in and around the water. Classes consist of eight 45 minute lessons. Level 2 Fundamental Aquatic Skills Students learn to float without support and recover to a vertical position. This level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills and adds to the self-help and basic rescue skills from Level I. Classes consist of eight 45 minute lessons. (Prerequisite: Completion of American Red Cross Swimming Level 1) Level 3 Stroke Development Builds on the skills in Level 2 by providing additional guided practice. This course teaches students how to coordinate the front crawl and back crawl, the elementary backstroke and fundamentals of treading water. Students will also learn safe diving rules and begin to dive from the side of the pool in deep water. Classes consist of eight 45 minute lessons. (Prerequisite: Completion of American Red Cross Swimming Level 2)

PRIVATE SWIM LESSONS Cost: $140 resident / $175 non - resident

Age: 3 and up Location: RCN

Private swim lessons are great for participants 3 years to adults who want more individual instruction. This one on one instruction is designed to give the participant specific training on what they want to accomplish. Skills anywhere from basic water safety, technical help with strokes, or preparation for swim teams can be covered. Classes and times are scheduled at the specific times specified. Make-ups or refunds will only be given for cancellations due to weather, facility closing or instructor availability. Classes consist of eight 25 minute lessons.

Designed to develop confidence in the adult swimmer and is geared toward the needs of the class. Comfort and flotation in the water, basic survival, front crawl, back crawl, treading water and basic water safety are just a few of the skills taught. Classes consist of eight 45 minute lessons.
