Mk. 14:32-42. (Read Mk. 14:32-54.) (32) And they Came to a place which w as named Gethsemane: and he salth to his disciples, Sit ye here, while I shall pray. (33) And he tak e th w ith him P e ter and Jam es and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy; (34) And salth unto them , My soul Is exceeding sorrow ful unto death: ta rry ye here, and w atch. (35) And he w ent forw ard a little, and fell on th e ground, and prayed th a t. If It w ere possible, th e hour m ight pass from him. (36) And he said, Abba, F ather, all things are possible unto thee; tak e aw ay th is cup from me: nevertheless not w hat I will, bu t w hat thou wilt. (37) And he cometh, and flndeth them sleeping, and salth unto Theme: “The Cup of Sorrow .” Outline: (1 ) The Sorrow ing and Supplicating Saviour, vs. 32-40. (2) The Sleeping Saints, vs. 37-41. (41) And he cometh th e th ird tim e, and salth unto them , Sleep on now, and tak e your re st: it is enough; th e hour is come; behold, th e Son of m an is betrayed into th e hands of sinners. Gethsemane is situ ated about a half a mile east of Jerusalem , beyond the brook Kedron, a t th e foot of th e Mount of Olives. H ere was situ ated a “ gard en ” as Jo h n calls it; no t a garden in our sense of th e word, filled w ith flowers and shade trees, bu t a place or farm where oil was made from the olives on the adjoining Hill, w ith a garden attached filled w ith fru it trees and sh rub s; a quiet, restfu l place probably belonging l
