Hamillroad Software is working with Harper Corpo- ration of America to accredit its XLT anilox range for use with Bellissima DMS. Initial compatibility testing of the XLT 60-degree Hex anilox range with Bellissima DMS has been completed at Clemson University’s Sonoco Institute, and work to- ward full accreditation is in process. Once accreditation is complete, Hamillroad will up- date its customers with details of which aniloxes are supported. In other news, Hamillroad Software has appointed ColoRole, a flexographic platemaker, to take its Bellis- sima DMS screening to market in China from its offices in Qingdao, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. According to Hamillroad, China is actively seeking new technologies to improve sustainability across in- dustries, and the ability to replace gravure with flexog- raphic printing is one of the key areas of interest. Smurfit Kappa Targets ‘Net Zero’ Emissions By 2050 Smurfit Kappa has announced new targets to further reduce its fossil CO2 emissions, including its ambition to reach at least net zero emissions by 2050. It has also increased its existing intermediate 2030 CO2 reduc- tion target by 15 percentage points to 55 percent, in comparison to the 2005 baseline. The company will have these targets validated by the Science Based Tar- get initiative as being in line with the objectives of the Paris Agreement. Before today’s announcement, Smurfit Kappa had al- ready achieved a reduction in CO2 emission intensity of 32.9 percent on its 2030 target of a 40 percent re- duction. This achievement has resulted from the suc- cessful implementation of key projects that form part of the company’s medium-term strategic plan. One such project was the installation of a recovery boiler at the company’s Nettingsdorf Paper Mill in Austria, which began operating in June of this year.The new boiler is set to cut CO2 emissions by an additional 40,000 tons,which translates into an additional 1.5 per- cent reduction in CO2 emissions across the business.
