THE KING’S BUSINESS

263

In LESSON II, we have John’s testi mony to Jesus as the Son of God, which testimony He received directly from the Father, and to which the Father certified by the visible descent of the Holy Spirit. We have also John’s testimony that Jesus was the Lamb of God, eternal, pre-existent, the One who baptized with the Holy Ghost. In LESSON III, we have Andrew and Philip’s discovery of the Messiah, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets did write, and Nathaniel’s discovery that Jesus was the Son of God, King of Israel. In LESSON IV, we have Jesus mani festing Himself as Son of God and Ruler of God’s house by driving out from God’s house those who were- defiling it by mak ing the Father’s house a house of mer- chandise. And we also have Jesus testify ing to His own Deity by proclaiming that should they destroy the temple of His body He would raise it up again. In LESSON V, we see Jesus as the Only Begotten Son of God giving eternal life to those who believed on Him. In LESSON "VI, we see Jesus declaring Himself to the woman of Samaria as the Christ,” and also declaring Himself to be the “Giver of eternal life,” and there fore, God. In LESSON VII, we see Jesus mani festing His Divine glory, a second time, in Cana of Galilee, by healing sickness at a distance by His bare word.

In LESSON VIII, we see Jesus mani festing His Divine power by healing by His bare word a man who had been in His infirmity for thirty and eight years and who was utterly helpless ahd hopeless. In LESSON IX, we see Jesus mani festing His Divine power and glory by feeding five thousand men with five small loaves and two small fishes, and having twelve basketsful of fragments left over after all were filled. This was unquestion ably a creative act, and, therefore, a deci sive proof of Jesus’ Deity. In LESSON X, we hear Jesus declare Himself to be the One who giveth ever- lasting life ; the One Whom God the Father hath sealed; the One through Whom eter nal life is1obtained; as “the Bread of Life” “which cometh down from heaven;” the One to Whom going we shall never hun ger ; and the One upon Whom believing we shall never thirst. In LESSON XI, we hear Jesus declaring Himself to be “the Light of the World,” the Son Who abideth forever in the Father’s house; the One who has power to set free from sin; and the eternal “I Am.” In each lesson Jesus is clearly seen as the Christ, the Son of God. True faith is built upon facts, and here are the indubitable and indisputable facts upon which faith can build, and believing which we can obtain life through His name.
