Explain which items constitute a dropped object hazard
Describe typical injuries that can occur as a result of a dropped object
Present participants with different hand tools and tether equipment, asking them to point out the following 3 points:
a.
tethering point (on the tool)
b.
tether
c.
anchor point or attachment point
Support with further examples related to regional hazards, such as:
a.
wildlife
b.
ice-cover on blades, steps and platforms
c. effects of environmental conditions (e.g. sun-heated or frozen tools)
Lead a discussion on the risks and injuries from dropped object when handling equipment in extreme environmental conditions and during emergency situations
Lead a discussion on the mitigating actions and due diligence required in relation to handling tools and items in adverse environmental conditions and during emergency situations.
Support the participants during practical training scenarios and activities to ensure that hand tools and other relevant objects are tethered before working at height, including information about when and how to tether
Provide feedback to the participants on their awareness and abilities to tether hand tools and other relevant objects when working at height
The participants shall:
Ask questions and share experiences on risks posed by dropped objects
In a practical exercise with different hand tools and other relevant objects, individually identify the following:
a.
tethering point (on the tool)
b.
tether
c.
anchor point or attachment point
