L’école Sainte-Croix, située dans l’est de la ville, n’est plus. L’ancien édifice en train de disparaître, sous les coups de bulldozer et de pioches. L’école vacante a été vendue par le Conseil scolaire du district catholique de l’Est ontarien à Ryan Flaro, président de St. Croix Holdings, ainsi qu’à un groupe d’investisseurs. Le terrain qu’occupait l’école fera place à 20 lots. Selon M. Flaro, le plan initial prévoyait la transformation de l’école en appartements pour personnes âgées. One of the sweetest educational opportu- nities one will ever experience is returning to the South Nation jurisdiction for a 16th season. South Nation Conservation (SNC), in partnership with Sand Road Maple Farm in Moose Creek, is once again offering its popular Maple Education Program which provides a unique, hands-on history of the production of maple syrup. Guided by SNC interpreters, pre-booked K-12 school groups enjoy a leisurely hike through the sugar bush while learning how maple syrup makes it from the tree to the breakfast table. The bilingual program is offered March 1st through April 5th, and interested schools must book their visits with SNC in advance. Tours are also available for adult groups. The Sand Road log cabin remains open to all visitors even while tours are being conducted.
