tó thè one and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Most of the young people in the world are in the wrong crowd'and are going the wrong _way. Juvenile de linquency statistics prove this point. The right crowd is the crowd going the right way, under the right leader ship, and with the right objectives in view. It is a crowd that is following the One who said,. “ I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6)—a crowd headed. for a useful life f here on earth with the Lord Jesus Christ as Master in everyday living. II. HOW CAN I BE A MEMBER OF THE RIGHT CROWD? None.of us came into the world in the right crowd by natural birth, for “ aS by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” (Rom. 5:12). This Scripture immediately lets us know that we are in the wrong crowd, are under the wrong leadership, and have the wrong objectives in view. However, we do not have to continue in this awful state, fòr there is a wonderful provi sion made whereby one can become a new person in Christ Jesus. Yes, you can get into the right crowd, and go the right way. God’s Word gives us the answer to the question “HOW?” See John 1:12; Romans 10:9; 2 Corin thians 5:17. III. HOW CAN I BE POPULAR WITH THE RIGHT CROWD? Everyone wants to be popular. This is only natural. Popularity in any crowd is based upon doing well what the crowd does. The right crowd always does those things that please the Lord Jesus Christ. The incentive for such living is a heart filli of love for Him. One’s daily motto should be “ that in all things he might have the preemi nence” (Col. 1:18). Often this means forsaking personal desires and pleas ures. Yet when one really loves Him, nothing seems too great a price to pay to please'Him. We find in 2 Tim othy 4:10 that Demas was not willing to pay this price, and we can be sure that he missed the joy of being popu lar with the right crowd; To be popular with the right crowd one must excel in certain qualities. . Sincerity is one of the outstanding principles of the right crowd (Tit. 2:7). No one can be popular very long if his life does not ring true. A con sistent, earnest, and upright testimony counts, and unless this is true some one will surely say, “What you are speaks so loudly I can’t hear what you say.” Friendliness is also important. We must be worthy of great friendships,

deep friendships without self-interests. Someone has said that “friendship is to be valued for what there is in it; not for what can be gotten out of it.” Yes, a ooncerri, a love, a compassion ate feeling for those about you will place you in thè ranks of those who are popular. Humbleness. Some people are un popular because they are hard to ap proach. They have an air of social or spiritual superiority. Pride is a terrible thing in one’s life and will quickly bring one low in the estima tion of his fellow men. “Humble your selves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up” (Jas. 4:10; cf. 1 Cor. 3:18).
