Figure 02-7: High Injury Network + Social Vulnerability Index

High Injury Network The High Injury Network (HIN) identifies corridors with the greatest density and severity of crashes, helps prioritize investment in areas where crash history demonstrates serious problems, and effectively communicates these priorities to community members. Figure 02-7 visualizes Fort Worth’s high-injury network, overlaying it with areas of social vulnerability. Red and orange zones—representing medium-high and high vulnerability—are concentrated in central and southern parts of the city, particularly around major roadways. These areas also align with high-injury corridors, suggesting that socially vulnerable communities are disproportionately affected by severe crashes. As shown below, pedestrians and commercial motor vehi- cles experience the highest share of KSI crashes on the despite HIN roadways making up only 6.3% of the network, underscoring significant safety risks for both vulnerable road users and freight-related travel.
