In addition, mixed-use developments are cost-effective, often requiring less infrastructure while maximizing land use and reducing urban sprawl. By increasing revenue per square mile and supporting a more connected, active city environment, mixed-use development helps Fort Worth build a resilient tax base that can support long- term growth and economic strength. Daytime Population Fort Worth gains population during the day as workers commute into the city, while Tarrant County as a whole experiences a net loss. However, many Fort Worth residents also leave the city for work, reducing the number of people available to shop, dine, and engage with local businesses and attractions during normal business hours. According 2023 ACS 1-year estimates shown in Figure 02-35 , Fort Worth’s daytime population was estimated at 1,045,333 with an Employment Residence (ER) Ratio of 1.03, indicating that the city attracts more workers than it sends out.
