2.6 EQUITY GOAL: Promote and build an accessible, affordable, and reliable transportation system to meet the mobility and connectivity needs of all ages and abilities.

Fort Worth’s transportation equity initiatives focus on meeting the diverse needs of disad- vantaged populations, including zero-car households, people of color, low-income residents, individuals with limited English proficiency, and seniors and disabled individ - uals. Concentrated primarily in Fort Worth’s core and southeastern neighborhoods, these groups face unique mobility challenges that require targeted solutions. Ensuring equitable

access to transportation is a vital component of Fort Worth’s overall commitment to inclu- sive growth and accessibility. DISADVANTAGED POPULATIONS AND GEOGRAPHIC DISTRIBUTION Fort Worth’s core and southeastern neigh- borhoods have a high concentration of disad- vantaged populations, as illustrated in Figure 02-41 . Data from the EPA’s Environmental

Justice (EJ) Screen highlights the percentage of people of color, low-income residents, zero-car households, and individuals with limited English proficiency in these areas. These populations often experience trans- portation barriers that limit their access to jobs, healthcare, education, and other essen- tial services. Expanding accessible transit options in these neighborhoods is essential to closing these gaps and promoting equity.
