OUR PRIORITIES
The M1M initiative goes beyond road improvements; it’s about enhancing quality of life for everyone in Fort Worth. Our current infrastructure limits access to services, jobs, and education, espe- cially for those who rely on transit, biking, or walking. M1M aims to create a more accessible and safe network by expanding transit and bike infrastruc- ture, while also improving the experience for drivers with smarter traffic manage - ment and optimized signals. By prior- itizing these multimodal solutions, M1M envisions a future with faster, safer, and more reliable travel options. To achieve these goals, Fort Worth must also address structural challenges within its funding and planning. With a limited tax base, there is pressure on current resources to meet rising infrastructure demands. M1M will outline strat- egies to diversify funding sources, attract new investments, and build a financial foundation capable of supporting our long-term needs. This proactive approach will not only prepare Fort Worth for future growth but also ensure that transportation investments contribute to a thriving, economically competitive city that prioritizes the well-being of its residents.
MANAGING RAPID GROWTH Fort Worth’s transportation network must expand and adapt to keep up with the city’s expanding population. M1M will provide a roadmap to support this growth sustainably, connecting new neighborhoods and reducing congestion. MAINTAINING AND UPGRADING THE SYSTEM Keeping up with the demands of a growing population means tackling maintenance challenges head-on. Fort Worth is committed to preserving existing infrastructure, building for the future, and integrating smart tech- nologies and multimodal options to create a resilient network. ESTABLISHING A COMPREHENSIVE BLUEPRINT Historically, Fort Worth’s transportation system developed in a piecemeal way. M1M will provide a cohesive blueprint that coalesces the competing interests of growth, mobility, accessibility, and economic vitality. BROADENING THE TAX BASE A sustainable transportation future requires a diverse and resilient funding structure. Fort Worth must attract new investments, develop sustainably, and explore innovative funding mechanisms to support long-term trans- portation needs. CONNECTING NEIGHBORHOODS M1M aims to better connect Fort Worth’s neighborhoods, creating shorter, more efficient routes that reduce travel times and enhance quality of life. Improved connectivity will help residents reach jobs, schools, and essen- tial services more easily, fostering a more livable community.
