Master Transportation Plan Task 4: Gap Analysis and Needs Network

joining data from individual sidewalk segments to the city’s roadway centerline layer. Centerline segments with no associated sidewalk data were then mapped be mapped as sidewalk gaps. While missing sidewalk is the most obvious barrier to pedestrian connectivity, sidewalk quality also has a significant impact on people’s walking experience, especially when paired with PxLTS. In Fort Worth, sidewalks are present on most streets in the central core; however they become less frequent and less connected to the surrounding areas. The following two figures ( Figure 35 and Figure 36 ) highlight existing sidewalk gaps and areas of poor sidewalk quality. Southern and western Forth Worth on either side of I-20 are areas with the least connected sidewalk networks. Where sidewalks do exist in these neighborhoods, they are often poor quality or only on one side of the street.
