Master Transportation Plan Task 4: Gap Analysis and Needs Network

3.6.3 Network Performance (Current and Future Projections) 3.6.3.1 Demand Analysis

This analysis builds on the demand analysis from the 2019 ATP by overlapping it with the coverage gaps identified in the previous section, highlighting areas with low network coverage despite high demand for walking and bicycling. First, a Gap Density score was created for each hexagon cell based on the combined mileage of gaps per cell for the following categories: • Sidewalk Gaps : Includes any missing sidewalk segment identified in Section 3.6.2. • Crossing Gaps : Includes any crossing gap identified in Section 3.6.2 with more than 600 feet between a low-stress crossing. • Trail Gaps : Includes any proposed trails or side paths from the 2019 ATP that have not yet been constructed. • On-Street Bikeway Gaps : includes any proposed on-street bikeways from the 2019 ATP that are not yet constructed. The Gap Density hexagons were then overlaid with the top 10 percent highest-scoring hexagons from the 2019 ATP Demand Analysis. Figure 44 highlights areas in Fort Worth with the highest demand and greatest density of gaps for all modes combined.
