OPTIONAL SHORE EXCURSIONS
Day 1 Embark in Cologne - Rüdesheim We arrive in Cologne and board our ship at 15.00, before cruising to Rüdesheim. Day 2 Rüdesheim - Speyer The wine town of Rüdesheim is known for its picturesque vineyards and impressive buildings – we can enjoy a winemakers, train and tasting experience today. Day 3 Speyer - Strasbourg Today’s optional excursions include a guided walking tour of Speyer and a visit to the famous medieval city of Heidelberg including the iconic Castle. Day 4 Strasbourg - Breisach Optional visits today include a Strasbourg guided city tour and an Alsace tour complete with tarte flambée and wine – delicious! Day 5 Breisach - Mainz Today we may wish to visit both Basel in Switzerland and the enchanting Black Forest, the setting for many a Grimm brothers’ fairytale. Day 6 Mainz - Cologne We have the option of joining a guided walking tour of Mainz today, known for its old town, half- timbered houses and medieval market squares. Day 7 Disembark in Cologne After breakfast, we disembark at 09.00 and make our way home.

We arrive in Strasbourg and board our ship at 18.00, with an optional riverboat cruise through old Strasbourg. Day 2 Strasbourg - Frankfurt Today’s optional excursion is a guided tour of Frankfurt, taking in Frankfurt Cathedral, the old We can enjoy a guided tour of Reichsburg Castle before exploring Cochem at leisure. Day 4 Cochem - Koblenz Today we sail on the Moselle and explore the old city of Koblenz with our host/hostess. Day 5 Koblenz - Rüdesheim* city and Römerberg square. Day 3 Frankfurt - Cochem This morning we sail to Rüdesheim with the option of touring the Rüdesheim vineyards by mini-train, stopping at the Bassenheimer Hof wine cellar for a tasting and finishing at Siegfried’s Mechanical Museum. *Depending on availability of moorings, the Rüdesheim stopover may be preceded by a stopover in Bingen. Day 6 Rüdesheim - Mannheim We sail towards Mannheim, joining an optional tour of Heidelberg, including the grounds of Heidelberg Castle and the old city. Tonight is our gala evening. Day 7 Disembark in Strasbourg After breakfast, we disembark at 09.00 and make our way home.
