E stablished in 1978, J.F & H Dowds has grown from a small family business in Ballymoney into a multi- disciplined large building contractor. The family business remains central to its values, with people very much at the heart of the company. It is evident that the workforce of Dowds take great pride in what they do and always strive to deliver the very best service to their clients. The scale and scope of projects which it has delivered was hailed as impressive by the judging panel. Stand-out projects include the new £22million Ulster University facility along with other large medical projects, leisure centres, food processing plants and educational works. Judges noted how each of these projects
required not only high levels of skills, but equally defined and organised structures, all of which Dowds have in abundance. Commentary from the panel included: “Their doors are always open to constructive criticism and they welcome all forms of feedback.” Another judge added: “It’s fitting that the Northern Ireland electrical community recognises Dowds for not only its commitment to standards and quality, but also its commitment to its workforce.” Speaking about its impressive achievement, Commercial Director of Dowds Group, David Porter said they were delighted to win the Overall Achievement Award. “The award is a testament to our fantastic team from the site operatives right through to senior management, all of
whom have supported Dowds Group in attaining its overwhelming success throughout the years. “Our people are the key to our success, starting over 40 years ago with founders John Francis and Hector Dowds, the strong people culture has been maintained throughout the business in all our team members.” David continued: “Going forward, we will strive to continue being an employer and partner of choice in the electrical industry.”
