LA–based artist Henry Taylor has portrayed people from widely different backgrounds—with a mixture of raw immediacy and tenderness for well over 30 years. B Side, refers to the side of a record album that often contains lesser-known experimental songs. This exhibit presents the artist’s paintings, a selection of sculptures, rarely exhibited drawings, painted objects on recycled everyday materials, and two new installations.

Almine Rech recently inaugurated its new U.S. flagship in Tribeca, NY with an exhibition by Vaughn Spann . The gallery recently underwent a renovation and this marks Vaughn’s first solo presentation in NY since 2020; the artist has prepared a body of new abstract paintings.

In honor of hip-hop’s 50th birthday, we’ve curated a list of must-see events and reads in its honor.
Acclaimed Author Mahogany L. Browne, Lincoln Center’s first poet-in-residence, wrote a love letter to hip-hop , composed entirely of lyrics both beloved and obscure. Celebrating 50 Years of Hip Hop: The Formative Albums and Songs of the 1970s - BET captured the essence of the early years in a video montage. There is no hip-hop without African American women, and the Netflix’s Ladies First: A Story of Women in Hip-Hop — series released to coincide with the 50th anniversary.
