teachings o f Jesus claimed the sovereignty o f the world. In this day of doubters that have no di vine messages and no beneficent audacities, I am glad Jesus believed the Old Testa ment Scriptures and in all He said and did, He never repudiated their authority or their revelation.— R obert G. W e find here a principle o f prophetic fulfillment that is of the greatest import ance in understanding the meaning o f our times. Just as in a railway schedule the time that has been lost at passed stations is recovered by what is called accelerated time, and the train goes ahead of its sche dule as it reaches the final station; so as the end draws near, we may expect, things to come in the providence of God and the fulfillment of prophecy not merely accord ing to the time o f our earthly calendars and chronometers, but at an accelerated ratio according to the time standards, not of earth, but of heaven. The time o f the Lord’s return will be determined not mere ly by chronological periods but by spiritual conditions.— A . B. S im p s o n . The more we are oppressed by our spir itual and temporal enemies, the more will the kingdom o f God increase in and through us. And when distress and dan gers oppress us most, God hastens to our aid, and makes our necessity itself the means o f our relief; for the ways o f God are always wonderful. It was an extreme distress when the children of the Israelites were cast into the river; but this was the means o f preserving Moses, their intended deliverer. Lord, I am Thine; but Thou wilt prove My faith, my patience, and my love; When men o f spite against me join,_ They are the sword; the hand is Thine 1 — S e le cte d . There is God’s provision for youl Now, if it is true that God has bestowed upon us a full provision—not only that I am justi fied and accepted in Jesus Christ, but that I may be wholly triumphant; that there is not a single obstacle or hindrance in my way, for which God has not made full provision; and that He has already be stowed the gift—then, it is not a question o f kneeling down and praying that God would make this provision. It is already there. He has made a provision for us, that we may be conformed to the image of His Son, and that we may walk triumph antly day by day in the path of perpetual deliverance. That is sufficient provision ; there is no addition to be made. — E v a n H . H o p k in s . SEPTEMBER 26 R e v e r e n c e D u e t h e L ord “He is thy Lord, and worship thou him” (Psa. 45:11).
