Due to the COVID19 lockdown, Osmond had to take his project into the digital realm. He has turned this into an opportunity to use the digital space as a research book, where he continues to create posters celebrating the independence of African countries by designing graphic typefaces inspired by the country’s tradition. He carefully navigates the way in which he represents other cultures, while also signifying a unity between the independence each of these African countries have gained. For the time being he renders his designs into various settings with the hope of taking these artworks into physical spaces once the digital project is complete. Although Osmond’s work is being viewed through a different lens within a digital space, is has allowed him to received international recognition. As a young Zimbabwean designer, Osmond represents an emerging demographic as the forefront of a newly defined field with ever-growing importance and relevance.
