FAMILY AND FIREWORKS

What Are Your Favorite 4th of July Traditions?

Over the years, my Fourth of July traditions have changed quite a bit. When I was a kid, we didn’t have immediate family nearby. Both my mom’s and dad’s families lived out of state, and since my parents wanted to avoid the traffic, we never traveled during the holidays. For our Fourth of July weekends, we spent time with close family friends and church. Our extended family included folks from St. Michael’s Church, and watching the fireworks with them was always a lot of fun. I still have fond memories of childhood fireworks shows, although I have to say that nothing compares to the Jacksonville Beach fireworks show my own family gets to see every year. I have kept up the tradition of not traveling during the holidays, so for Independence Day, we always stay home. My wife and I host a small get-together with my mom and her husband Mike, who live down the street. We eat, catch up on what’s new with everyone, and then go down

to the beach and watch the fireworks.

My daughter Isabella is completely enchanted by the fireworks. Watching her reaction is my favorite part of the Fourth of July festivities, because I love seeing my child happy. We do a lot to make sure our loved ones are happy, and part of what I enjoy most about being a retirement advisor is helping

family when you are no longer able to do so yourself. It covers unexpected expenses, provides a financial pick-me- up, leaves a lasting memory of your hard work, and acts as a reminder of your love because you continued to find a way to provide for your family. I’ve helped many people plan retirements that empowered them to leave behind legacies for their kids, nieces and nephews, close friends, and charities, and churches within their communities. This year, on the Fourth of July, I hope you will enjoy great food, admire some amazing fireworks, and get to spend some quality time with your family — whether they’re your biological family or your extended family.

my clients know their family members will be happy and well-taken care of — during their retirement years and even after they’re gone. A lot of people think retirement planning is all about making sure you’ll be able to buy a new boat, travel the world, and never work again. Yes, that’s a big part of it, but retirement planning is also about leaving behind a legacy. During our working years, it’s not just our spouses we’re working to take care of and provide for. My wife and I both work hard to make sure our daughter is taken care of too. Even after she has attained “young adult” status, has moved out of the childhood home, and is working to support herself, I know my need to take care of Isabella isn’t going to go away.

Happy and safe Fourth of July!

If you’re young at heart and looking to stay (or get) in shape this summer, consider taking a

homebody. Because malls are spacious and climate-controlled, they make great year-round walking venues, especially when summer temperatures spike. You don’t even need to put on sunscreen!

Getting things done as you exercise makes the experience that much more rewarding. Just remember not to overdo it. Carrying too many shopping bags can place undue stress on your back — and your wallet.

You Won’t Be Alone

While the average American shopping center isn’t as scenic as the Appalachian Trail, they are far more convenient. Replete with bathrooms, cool drinking water, and plenty of benches, the mall lets you focus on exercising and removes all of the “what ifs” that come with aging. Most malls are also outfitted with EMT kits in the event of a medical emergency.

Today, malls are the second-most popular places to walk in America, after neighborhoods. Mall walking has become so big that many communities and senior living centers have put together official groups to stride together. Your local mall may already open early to accommodate walkers. So if you’re looking to make friends in an active, fun-loving community, do some research. Chances are there’s a mall-walking club near you!

Declare Your Financial Independence 2 Mistakes Keeping You From Financial Freedom

2. You’re living beyond your means. Many people are guilty of this during both their working years and their retirement years. It is so important to be aware of your incoming money and your outgoing expenses during all stages of your life so that you aren’t setting yourself up for failure. If you have made or are making these mistakes, don’t beat yourself up! A lot of people make poor decisions regarding their finances, but you can still come back from it. The first step is to schedule a visit with a professional retirement advisor who can help set you on the right path to becoming financially independent. Fortune Magazine published a study which revealed that people with written retirement plans end up with approximately five times more money in retirement than people who do not have written retirement plans. It literally does not pay to “wing it” in retirement. A retirement plan in writing is your proven roadmap to financial freedom, and your retirement advisor will help you assess your specific and unique situation and then figure out how to achieve success. Ready to declare your financial independence? Call us, your retirement experts, at 904-232-8760 to learn how to create a written plan designed for your dream retirement.

“Financial freedom” isn’t just a catchy buzzword — it’s a lifestyle millions of Americans dream about. Being financially free means getting to enjoy at least eight hours of uninterrupted sleep every night, spending time on hobbies you enjoy instead

of working longer than you have to, and having peace of mind knowing you won’t run out of money during retirement. When you have financial independence, your life becomes your own and isn’t at the mercy of your next paycheck.

Everyone wants financial freedom, but few people actually achieve it. If you are

struggling to become financially independent, ask yourself if you are making these two common mistakes:

1. You didn’t aggressively save during your early working years. It’s not enough to just save money. You also need to give your money time to grow! The power of compounding interest can make a huge difference in your savings. Simply stated, compounding interest means that you begin to earn interest income on your interest income, resulting in your money growing at an ever-accelerating rate!

Secret Swimming Holes of the World Exclusive Spots You Must See to Believe

Tips forYourTripBack inTime

Summertime is for swimming, but why settle for a community pool when you can have access to the most beautiful swimming locales in the world? These three exclusive, little-known spots are sure to take your breath away. Hali’i Falls, Hawaii With its spiral staircase of waterfalls, this remote jungle location offers up more than one unique spot to take a plunge. Visitors never fail to be awestruck by the deep blue-green hue of each pool created by the four cascading waterfalls. Hali’i means “to spread out,” which is precisely what each waterfall does, showcasing a serene experience unlike any other. But the beauty of this one-of-a-kind experience is only outdone by its exclusivity. To reach these pools, you’ll have to hike through dense

forest, deep marshes, and wide-open pastures of sugar cane.

Dos Ojos, Mexico The Spanish translation of the name for this magical system of caves is “two eyes,” and you’ll want to have yours checked after you see this swimming hole. When limestone bedrock collapses, a sinkhole called a “cenote” is formed. The unearthed water from the natural aquifer balances a color palette of earth tones with the most majestic shades of blue you’ll ever behold. The calling cards for these bodies of water are the Blue Eye and the Black Eye. Both offer unforgettable experiences, but the price of entry is a hefty sense of adventure. You’ll need a full set of scuba gear to get to either hole.

The Baths, Virgin Gorda A day in the Caribbean is like living every moment inside a beautiful pastel painting. The elegance of this location in the British Virgin Islands will make you feel like you’ve been transported into a cathedral. The large boulders and natural rock formations create shallow caves that will captivate your eyes as you wade through the water in wonder. When you exit, you’ll witness the sight that gives this beautiful spot its name: A handful of 40-foot granite boulders form private pools as if that was what they were made for.
