they should not make him known. 13 . And he goeth up into a mountain, and calleth unto him whom he would: and they came unto him. 14 . And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, 15 . And to have power to heal sick nesses, and to cast out devils: 16 . And Simon he surnamed Peter; 17 . And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of. James; and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder: 18 . And Andrew, and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alpheus, and Thaddeus, and Simon the Canaanite, 19 . And Judas Iscariot, who also be trayed Him. Demons, or unclean Spirits (most of the professional “spirits” seem to be unclean) were as completely under His control as was disease. Our 1 Lord prohibited them testifying to His Deity. He wants the life back of the lips. How strange that professing Christians should meddle with spirits whom our Lord drove out of and away from men. No true Christian would fellowship with them, nor seek guidance from them. See God’s command, Ex. 22:18; Deut. 18:10; >Lev. . 19:31; 20 :6 ; Isa. 8 :19, 20. II. Notice the distances from which people came, not so much to hear His mes sage and to be blessed spiritually, as to be healed physically. The relative importance in the eyes of the crowd is the same today. It was the reports of what He had done that drew the people to Him. Has any one ever come to Jesus because of, or through, your testimony and altered life? He exercised judgment in having a boat
